Mazatlan Mexico is located on the northwest coast of Mexico.
If you draw a line straight east from Cabo San Lucas, the point
of Baja, you will find Mazatlan. The city wraps itself around about
15 miles of coastline, which hosts numerous different reef, point
and beach breaks. However, the waves in town as good as they
can get, are not the reason we are here. It is the uncrowded surf
in the country-side that we are interested in. Puras Olas is however
based in town, so that we are closer to the people and culture of
Mazatlan.
Mazatlan is definitely a tropical climate. The seasons coincide
pretty closely with those of the states, but summer down here lasts
a bit longer. It will stay pretty hot and humid through October,
and November is when the tempuratures begin falling along
with the humidity.
The surf in Mazatlan is amazing. Within an hour drive or less we
can be into empty perfect waves for any level of surfer.
Of course surfing in town can come with a small crowd,
but if you compare the average wave quality and average
crowd here to anywhere I have surfed back home, this place
blows California out of the water. |
